To Be a Citizen… Education Seminars from Educators

Dear Guests,

Welcome to our meeting.

It is undeniable that education is important for the youth to be efficient and participatory. It is possible to bring up the youth as citizens who are aware of the values which should be present in a democratic society, aware of their rights and responsibilities, aware of human rights, who possess and will protect the principles and values which are the backbone of notions like the rule of law and the State of Law only if education opportunities including the necessary knowledge and skills is constituted.

Umut Onurlu Onderler  Foundation is aware of its responsibility on this issue as a non governmental organization aimed at bringing up young people with the values mentioned above. That’s why Umut Foundation has put among its skill courses activities teacher and student books “To Be a Citizen…” which have been prepared under the presidency of Prof. Dr. Ipek Gürkaynak and which have been published by our Foundation  aimed at “ bringing up young people who adopt the rule of law, who seek peace and not violence”.It has been prepared with a teaching method encouraging and teaching to “Discuss and make discuss, to be transactional, to deliver and develop opinion, to be a contribution agent”.

We believe that you dear educators support from the heart our effort to bring up young people possessing “Awareness of Being a Responsible Citizen” and as we can see you are doing the same efforts,that you are here for these educations. That’s why I want to thank each of you and wish you success in this education program. It is so nice to be able to constitute the awareness of citizenship in our youth and to be able to contibute to make each of them a responsible citizen. I would like to thank in your presence to all my contributor  friends, to all our educators, particularly to Prof. Dr. Ipek Gürkaynak .

Also I would like to thank and present my gratitute to my true friend founder member Prof. Dr. Mehmet Gürkaynak who gave a start to the citizenship institute for the first time in Turkey by opening the Umut Foundation branch and also would like to thank him to host us in such a nice place.

For a future full of hope….
