70 articles out of totally 550 articles published in national press,which are concillatory and making people desire for dissolving the disagreements in peaceful ways, are accepted for the contest in the first election by being searched over all articles by Umut Foundation.At the same time,’Search for Common Ground’ that is founded in United States of America decided to perform its prize ceremony in Turkey by searching all the articles published in written press of Middle East countries and working collaborately with Umut Foundation.

35 article writers who are from various newspapers of Middle East countries including Turkey participated in the symposium organized by Umut Foundation in Istanbul Dedeman Hotel and positive common points have been reached by discussing along 3 days the theme of media contribution to peace.
Individual Disarmament Prize Ceremony is performed in Istanbul Dedeman Hotel on 28 Sep 2000.
All the prize-winner foreign article writers and the champion article writers of Individual Disarmament Prize of Umut Foundation also took prize from ‘J.Zel Lurie Researcher Journalist Fund’.
Before the prize ceremony,35 article writers who are from various newspapers of Middle East countries including Turkey participated in the symposium organized by Umut Foundation in Istanbul Dedeman Hotel and positive common points have been reached by discussing along 3 days the theme of media contribution to peace.
